Hille/Hartum, June 2024 - BERNSTEIN AG's new photovoltaic system has been put into operation at the production site in Hartum. The entire roof area of the production hall is now covered with solar panels - there would have been no room for any more modules.
The figures speak for themselves: with a peak output of 374.33 kWp on 3,265 m² and a total of 608 modules, the system will cover a significant proportion of the electricity requirements with immediate effect. In the past year 2023, this amounted to 594,311 kWh at the Hartum site. Thanks to the new photovoltaic system, the company can now cover a large part of this demand with renewable energy.
"Since 1947, we have seen it as our task to offer the best possible protection for people, machines and processes. Over the years, we have also become more aware of the responsibility we have as a company towards our environment. This is an aspect with which we want to continue this history," says Achim Bernstein, member of the BERNSTEIN AG Management Board.
A PV system was already put into operation at the administrative site in Porta Westfalica/Hausberge in 2022. It generated 61.11 MWh of solar power last year. Any additional electricity required is sourced from 100 per cent green electricity from hydropower.
BERNSTEIN AG currently employs around 600 people in 10 countries and, as an internationally active family business, is now managed by siblings Achim and Nicole Bernstein in the third generation. The product portfolio ranges from switches, sensors and enclosures, support systems and operating terminals to system solutions for operating and safeguarding entire machines and systems.
